Impulse Archaeology

Works by Andy Fabo

Where: The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA)

Andy Fabo is the first survey exhibition of multi-media works by this Toronto artist, activist, writer and curator. Andy Fabo was born in Calgary Alberta in 1953 where he studied at the Alberta College of Art and the University of Calgary. Since 1980 he has exhibited extensively throughout Canada in addition to group and solo exhibitions in the United States and the U.K. He was a prominent member of Toronto’s Chromazone group during the 1980s and was a pioneering activist on behalf various issues related to Queer culture and HIV/AIDS. As well as writing and reviewing exhibitions he has also organized and curated numerous group shows.

The main space exhibition at MOCCA will feature a diverse selection of works, in a variety of media, produced from the 1970s through 2005. In January 2006 MOCCA will publish a fully illustrated book on Andy Fabo with texts by Richard Vaughan, Annette Hurtig and David Liss.
